Mid Michigan Community College uses ACCUPLACER (a computer based test by the College Board) as a placement tool. ACCUPLACER is not an admissions test. It is an assessment that helps students identify their present strengths and needs--information that is necessary for accurate placement in the basic areas of language usage, reading, and numerical skills.

ACCUPLACER was developed, standardized, and validated by the College Board, a division of the Educational Testing Service.

All students in the following categories must complete the ACCUPLACER assessment prior to registration:

New full-time students;

New students taking 6 credits or more;

New students, not full-time, who will be pursuing a degree or certificate;

Students who plan to enroll in a college Mathematics or English course for the first time;

Returning students who are on academic probation or academically dismissed;

Students who have completed 12 credit hours or more, have not had a college English or Math course at another institution, and have not previously been assessed.

Should I Study For ACCUPLACER?

A student cannot "pass" or "fail" the placement tests. To ensure that test scores accurately represent skill levels, students may wish to review basic concepts in reading, grammar, arithmetic, and algebra before taking ACCUPLACER, especially if they have been away from school for more than a year.

Mid Michigan Community College has developmental classes in Reading, English, and Math to help students who need to improve their basic reading, writing, or math skills before attempting higher-level coursework. A student who needs substantial remediation in reading or writing may be referred to basic adult education programs available in the community.

What To Bring With You To Assessment

On the day of the test, you should be sure to know or bring your social security number and photo identification. A short Orientation will take place prior to your ACCUPLACER Assessment.

REMEMBER, PHOTO I.D. IS REQUIRED FOR ALL TESTING SESSIONS
